May is “Youth Services Month” which focuses on all Rotary activities that support the development of young people up to the age of thirty. I know that it is difficult for our members to source suitable applicants but we need to develop some relationship with a school or a surf club.
We have enough helpers for the “Sports Expo” at Mermaid Beach bowls club for this Saturday. This is a Mermaid Beach Rotary club event but they have requested that we assist them. There is also a training day on this Sunday so see President elect if you wish to attend.
This Wednesday is a formal meeting so see you at the Surf Club

This coming Wednesday, 1st May, Gillian Reeve, the current President of the RC of Mermaid Beach, is our guest speaker. And has she got a story to tell! She went to India to help dispensing the Polio Plus vaccine. Her presentation will outline the trial and tribulations of such an enormous project, and she will elaborate why the eradication of Polio is still one of the most important World Health aims. Usual time and place: Surfers Paradise SLSC, upstairs venue, 07:00 am - 08:30 am.

At last Wednesday's meeting at the Surfers Paradise SLSC, half the board was present (a number of others hadn't yet arrived at the time this photo was taken) and quite a lot of serious club business was discussed. OK sure, the previous weekend's AFL and NRL games might have got a mention or two, and Dr Elizabeth's upcoming trip, and President Doug's horse racing, and... and...

Johnny Bueti (who at present is still mostly working in Melbourne), advised that he'll organise another Italian Long Lunch, on Thursday, 11th July 2024. As previous events, it will again be held at Gemelli Italian Restaurant in Broadbeach. As soon as I have more specifics I'll put it up on our website and Facebook. Mark it in your diary now!
