There has been a change by Australian Tax Office re Reporting for not for profit entities (which is all Rotary Clubs). District Governor Dave Harmon and District Treasurer Jeannie Anderson have sent out the requirements which will be commencing 1st July 2024. I am sure that there will be some training before the new regime has to be implemented.
Still looking for helpers for the Sports Expo being held in conjunction with Mermaid Brach Rotary Club at the Mermaid Beach Bowls Club. It is only from 11.00 am to 3.00 pm. If you can help please let me know.
There is a notification issued by DGE Liza Hunt of a District Learning Assembly which will be held at the Banora Point High School on the 5th May 2024 commencing at 9.00am and finishing at 3.00pm.. The assembly will cover topics such as public image, member experience, youth programs, club governance, Rotary Foundation including Grants, plus more.

Last Wednesday, we had the pleasure of our newest member, Dr Elizabeth Celi, introducing herself in the customary ‘Rotarian behind the Badge’ presentation for new members. And not even the failure of her video or displaying her photos could faze her… after all she is a professional psychologist, her field of expertise being EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing), a method to address PTSD/cPTSD and the "hot memories" EMDR helps treat". Too much information to put into this short article - sorry, you should have been there. One of the interesting aspects of her speech was the fact that she found very limited material for cases where the male was the victim of domestic violence, so she authored her own book on the subject: ‘Breaking the Silence: A practical guide for male victims of domestic abuse’.
Dr Elizabeth is an experienced Rotarian; she is a Past President of the Rotary Club of Mt Martha (Melbourne). We always aim for those type of talks to emphasise a new member’s passion.
Her hobby? It is photography and video production. We are looking for RYPEN (Rotary Youth Program for Enrichment) candidates, aged 14 - 16 years (year 8 - 10) to participate in the upcoming camp. It will be held at Bornhoffen PCYC, from Friday 3rd - Sunday 5th May 2024. The $350.00 fee is covered by our club (for successful applicants). This is a hugely successful annual program that focuses on the development of self-concept, and relationships. It is designed to develop skills that will assist them in the transition to adulthood.
