Welcome to another post. Last Wednesday there was a board meeting. The meeting was well attended and a number of things were discussed and decided upon.
There was a request to assist from Mermaid Beach Rotary Club who are holding a Youth Sport and Rec Expo on Saturday 4th May 2023 at Mermaid Beach Bowling Club. The times are for 11.00am to 3.00 pm. They have requested that we give them assistance on the day and I have replied to Tony Gilmour that we as a Club are prepared to help on the day. If anyone is available on the day please let me know. Some of the Titans and Suns players will be in attendance.
Golf day for this year has been booked 28th October 2024. It is as usual a Monday and is at the Surfers Paradise Golf Club.
We will apply for a grant from the Helensvale Bowling Club to assist with our Lutzy award. Plenty more from the meeting but the above is a sample.

Lucy Cole is one of the very original Real Estate professionals of our city. She will present on the evolution of the Gold Coast region, from a simple holiday shack community to the major city we are now.
They are the first volunteer couple at our project shed: Damian responded in December last year to an advertisement on Seek Volunteer, and his partner Nait recently decided to join him on Saturday mornings. What a refreshing addition to our team!
He hails from Manchester UK - and is still a Manchester City fan. Before emigrating to Australia in 2008, Damian served for 9 years in the Royal Air Force as a qualified Airframe Technician maintaining Fighter Jets such as the Tornado F3 and GR4, and the well-known Harrier Jump Jet.
Today, he is a Senior Project Manager (ICT) with Fujitsu, working on Defence projects. (By the way, most people would not be aware that Fujitsu is the second oldest IT company after IBM, founded in 1936). And what does he do when not managing big IT projects? Damian loves kite surfing, hiking, keeping fit, cooking curries, immersing himself in tech literature and listening to music. His favourite band? ‘The Smiths’[No, I didn’t know about them either. Nait was born in Cooma and brought up in Berridale in the Snowy Mountains region, but moved to Brisbane when just 22 years old. She holds a degree in Criminology and is an Inspector for the Australian Border Force. Her work requires a lot of travelling, both overseas as well as “all around Australia”, including Christmas Island and Thursday Island. Her hobbies: swimming, gardening, fishing. For a quiet time, Nait reads True Crime literature or listens to True Crime podcasts. Sounds like her work very much is also her passion!
